When it comes to Ponte Vedra Beach communities, Nocatee virtually has it all. This master-planned community has been growing since its inception in 2001. Careful planning by the PARC Group as well as St. Johns County has ensured that Nocatee neighborhoods have grown in a sustainable manner to create a nuanced and resident-friendly community.
About Nocatee neighborhoods
Nocatee features ten communities, each with is own distinct architectural feel, amenities and flavor. With the variety of homes for sale in Nocatee ranging from luxury homes on large lots to more traditional lots with modern townhomes, there is a neighborhood tailor made to fit most Ponte Vedra home buyers. Each neighborhood features a village-like field and close-knit community. Nocatee also offers seniors-only communities for active adults ages 55 and older.
Nocatee’s position within the First Coast
Nocatee is situated south of Old Ponte Vedra and north of St. Augustine, putting it at the heart of the action on the First Coast. Recent infrastructure improvements and expansion allow Nocatee residents easy access to the attractions of historic St. Augustine, the excellent Ponte Vedra schools and all of the convenience of Jacksonville.
Nocatee is an attractive place to settle for natives and out of towners alike with its proximity to many beautiful beaches. Nocatee is just a short drive from Micklers public beach access, the Ponte Vedra Lodge & Club private beach access, the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club private beach club, and the public beaches at Atlantic, Neptune and Jacksonville beaches.
Nocatee neighborhood amenities
Although Nocatee does not have any golf courses of its own currently, the community is located close to the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course, Marsh Landing Country Club, Ponte Vedra Golf club and the Sawgrass Country Club. These iconic courses were created by top designers and overlook a variety of stunning views, from beachside scenes to the natural original marshes of the Intracoastal waterway.
Nocatee’s growing Town Center
The jewel of the Nocatee community is the Town Center, which has undergone significant development since the inception of the community. Currently the Town Center is home to Northeast Florida’s largest Publix, a local grocery store offering the best in conventional groceries as well as a huge selection of all-natural and organic offerings. Choose from a large selection of fine wines, fresh artisan baked goods and humanely-raised fresh meat. Future plans for the Town Center envision the hub growing to include both traditional shopping outlets and local specialty boutiques. The area is pedestrian-friendly and easily accessible from the Nocatee neighborhoods.
Nocatee Town Center future expansion plans
In addition to dining, banking, apparel and other storefronts, Nocatee’s Town Center will feature office space and medical outlets. Flagler Development Company is in the process of planning a Class A Corporate office park including 675,000 square feet of office space in multiple buildings. Baptist Health has also announced plans for a 60,000 square foot facility that will provide primary care services including internal medicine and outpatient care. The Town Center is rapidly growing and provides many resources for the surrounding Ponte Vedra neighborhoods.
Nocatee Splash Water Park
A huge draw for families, Nocatee’s Splash Water Park receives plenty of attention—even year round. The park, which opened in March of 2010, offers a resort-style waterpark for Nocatee residents to cool off and enjoy some family time. The Splash Water Park truly has something to offer everone—even people who aren’t looking for vigorous swimming. True, it is home to the tallest water slide in Northeast Florida, but it also offers a large lazy river where anyone can grab an innertube and slowly float through 450 feet of meandering twists and turns. The Splash Water Park is totally kid friendly and features the Splash Cove, an interactive water playground for young children with a maximum depth of 18 inches. Non-swimming offerings at the Splash Water Park include two volleyball courts, an outdoor kitchen available for private events, and full-menu poolside snack bar.
Amenities for Nocatee homes
Nocatee is an ideal community for an active family or couple. Nocatee features a 75-acre eco-friendly park with soccer fields and even an on-site dog park, Trails for Tails, within the community park. This year, Nocatee has seen the opening of its second large community park, the Greeleaf Park, featuring tree-lined nature trails, a covered pavilion, sports field, playground and dog park. If you’ve traveled I-95 recently, you’ve probably seen signs featuring Nocatee’s picturesque Greenway. This unique feature includes 5,000+ acres of parks, wildlife preserves and protected wetland. With trails and large, wide elevated wooden decking, the Greenway is open to joggers, walkers, bikes and electric carts. Electric cart paths will eventually connect each Nocatee village with the Town Center, making the hub of commerce and social life in the community even more accessible for the eco-minded resident.
In its planning, Nocatee kept natural beauty in mind and set aside land as a natural preserve, very much echoing the sentiments of the Marsh Landing community planners. The community is surrounded by 2,400 acres of marshland along the Tolomato River.
Other Nocatee amenities include a 5,000 square foot fitness club for residents, personal training, group fitness classes, monthly farmers markets and monthly community activities for residents and visitors alike. The large Crosswater Hall is a grand sight and varied venues for business and private rentals.
